News of the World (2020)

Directed by Paul Greengrass

A Texan traveling across the wild West bringing the news of the world to local townspeople, agrees to help rescue a young girl who was kidnapped.

Tom Hanks is typecast once again, but not as any particular character trait or archetype, but rather as a literal embodiment of liberal America in 'the age of Trump'; the moral consciousness of US centrism. Putting it that way, through, it strikes me that Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Captain Phillips, etc. all have Hanks as representing the eternal boomer in us all.
