3 Women (1977)

Directed by Robert Altman

Two co-workers, one a vain woman and the other an awkward teenager, share an increasingly bizarre relationship after becoming roommates.

A bit too inscrutable, yet at times this is quite spellbinding. Difficult to tell who gives the better performance out of Spacek and Duvall, but it doesn't seem to be a competition either. One definite winner is Altman's superb sound design, capturing so well the caustic remarks by the other 'guests' in the God-awfully gaudy Purple Sage apartments.
