Talk to Me(2023)

Dir. Directed by Janin Halisch

Cambridge Film Festival 2023: Film #22

A fairly well-observed family portrait of a kind, the success of which probably depends on how much you can connect with the mother-daughter relationship and in believing that these characters have lives that exist outside of the screenplay… in addition to the emotional unloading in the musical numbers. That Karo's bangs were obscuring her literal and metaphorical vision was a nice touch, but film was, in general, was a little for me. Lots of 'German-style' nudity if you're into that.

Synopsis: Karo (28) is freshly separated and is struggling with the non-existing relationship with her father. When her mother MICHAELA (50) wants to go on vacation with her to Rügen, Karo suspects there is again some failed love affair behind it.
