Notes on…

Avanti!(1972)

Dir. Directed by Billy Wilder

It basically has two jokes: "What if an Italian was Italian?" and "Imagine if a woman was overweight?", yet pulled off with such Wilderian style and Lemmonesque personality that it's really more than watchable. Permisso. Loved the line about, "We don't give out that kind of information." Also, without any sense of performative progressive thought, we body standards so different back then that she was seen as fat? Felt like I was taking crazy pills.
