Bar(2025)

Dir. Directed by Don Hardy

Seattle International Film Festival 2025: Film #9

Somewhat of an uncritical advertisement for the BAR course, it's a curious choice to not discuss the cost of the qualification - $3,950.00 according to a quick Google - especially when one of the documentary's subjects (Paige) appears to have got a discount through helping with the setup all throughout the day, and that for another subject (the radiologist) the cost is likely far less burdensome. Would have also loved to have gotten a better impression of what, specifically, is on the scary written test. Anyway, kinda hilarious this was programmed for 11am on a Sunday.

Synopsis: Don Hardy's (PICK OF THE LITTER, MFF18) latest goes behind the BAR 5-Day course—the world's premiere educational program on distilled spirits and mixology. Two parts competition, one part the camraderie of teachers and learners served over ice with a dash of spiritous history, this film will whet your interest in and appreciation for what goes into serving a great drink well
